KONKURS PIW RZEMIEŚLNICZYCH – KRAFT ROKU 2023
(CRAFT BEER COMPETITION – CRAFT OF THE YEAR 2023)

RULES OF THE COMPETITION
1.
The craft beer competition by the name of “KONKURS PIW RZEMIEŚLNICZYCH – KRAFT ROKU 2023” (CRAFT BEER COMPETITION – CRAFT OF THE YEAR 2023; hereinafter also "KPR 2023", “Competition”) is organized by Browamator. The competition is organized in cooperation with Sympozjum Piwowarów Zawodowych (Professional Brewers Symposium). The competition is held under the patronage of Polskie Stowarzyszenie Browarów Rzemieślniczych (Polish Association of Craft Breweries).

KRP 2023 will be conducted in 59 categories divided into subcategories (as listed in the “Categories of KPR” annex).

One brewery may enter more than one beer in each category and subcategory. One and the same beer may be exhibited only in one category and subcategory. It is allowed to submit a beer with an initial extract of ±1°Blg in relation to the forks listed next to the beer styles in the appendix. The organizers reserve the right to assign the beer to the most appropriate category.

The production of each of the beers submitted to KPR 2023 may not exceed 10,000 hl per year.

Only beer produced on the territory of the Republic of Poland, by an entity registered and operating in Poland, may be submitted to the Competition. Co-operative beers with foreign breweries will be admitted to the Competition, provided that all conditions included in section 3. of the Competition Rules.

Beers rated in KRP 2023 will be assessed on the judging sheets in relation to style (subcategory) description in accordance with PSPD or BJCP style guidelines. If a given style (subcategory) does not have a description in PSPD nor BJCP style guidelines, the judges will judge the beer according to the guidelines of the Chief of the Jury. The brewery will receive feedback on the submitted beer. Depending on the number of entries and the quality of submitted beers, a maximum of 3 medals (bronze, silver and gold) may be awarded in each category.

Entry of beers for the Competition is made by completing and sending the application form till November 24rd, 2023 at the website https://kraftroku.pl/zgloszenie/formularz.html

The cost of submitting a beer to the KPR 2023 is:

- 200 PLN net (Early Bird) for each beer submitted and paid for between July 3 and September 28, 2023,

- 250 PLN net for each beer submitted and paid for between September 29 and November 24, 2023.

The beer entry fee for the Competition is non-refundable.

7.
The brewery is obliged to deliver the beer to the organizer of the Competition between November 13, 2023 and November 24, 2023 in the amount of 4 bottles / cans (0.5 liter or more) or 6 bottles / cans (less than 0.5 liter). Stickers with the description of the beer should be placed on the bottles / cans according to the template attached to the RULES OF THE COMPETITION. Beers should be delivered to the following address: Browamator, ul. Przekopna 39A, 38-100 Strzyżów, Poland.

8.
The competition will be held on 10-13 December 2023. If more than 12 beers are submitted in one category, there will be a qualifying round during which no more than 12 beers will be selected for the final round.

9.
The beers will be judged by experienced beer judges - from Poland and abroad. The judges will not be allowed to evaluate their own beer submitted to the Competition. The head of the Jury of KPR 2023 is Tomasz Kopyra (judge of BJCP and PSPD).

10.
Information on the three best beers from each category will be announced publicly during the Announcement of the KPR 2023 Results on December 13, 2023 in special open Gala Party in Krakow, Poland.

11.
The following prizes are prepared for each of the 59 categories:
for 1st place: Diploma, “KPR 2023 Laureate” plaque, graphic symbol - “Gold Medal in KPR 2023” to be used in the promotion of the brewery,
for the 2nd place: Diploma, “KPR 2023 Laureate” plaque, graphic symbol - “Silver Medal in KPR 2023” to be used in the promotion of the brewery,
for 3rd place: Diploma, “KPR 2023 Laureate” plaque, graphic symbol – “Bronze Medal in KPR 2023” to be used in the promotion of the brewery,

12.
The beer that will be awarded the “Kraft Roku 2023” (“Craft of the Year 2023”) title, commemorative plaque and the “Kraft Roku 2023” graphical symbol will be chosen by the KPR 2023 Grand Jury from among the winning beers in each category. Grand Jury will make their decision in the course of debate and open voting, after an additional tasting.

13.

The Special Awards will be selected on the basis of medal classification - the sum of points for the medals won, where a gold medal is 5 points, a silver medal is 3 points, and a bronze medal is 1 point. The Special Award in a given classification will be won by the brewery with the highest sum of points. In the case of an equal number of points, the number of more valuable medals will decide. Example: in the event of an equal number of points, the brewery with the greater number of gold medals wins, and in the event that this number is equal, the number of silver medals decides, etc. The following Special Awards are established:

1. "KPR Rookie of the Year 2023" - For new breweries that have started commercial sales of beer in the year in which KPR 2023 is organized.
The award will go to the rookie who accumulates the most valuable medals among all categories.

2. "KPR Champions of IPA 2023".
The award will go to the brewer who accumulates the most points among the categories 16-27

3. "KPR Champions of Light Lagers 2023".
The award will go to the brewery that accumulates the most points from among the categories 34-40

4. "KPR Champions of Stouts and Porters 2023".
The award will go to the brewery that accumulates the most points from among categories 4-15 (including BA Stouts and BA Porters)

5. "KPR Champions of Sours and Savages 2023".
The award will go to the brewery that accumulates the most points among categories 42-46 and 52.

14.
Breweries submitting beers to KPR 2023 agree to their data being published in the informational communiques regarding the Competition. Breweries agree to provide personal and contact details of the brewers-authors of beers submitted to KPR 2022 to the sponsors of the Competition and prize sponsors, and to use their name, surname and image to promote the Competition by the organizer of KPR 2022, i.e. Browamator based in Strzyżów, ul. Przekopna 39 A, 38-100 Strzyżów.

15.
The organizers reserve the right to amend the RULES OF THE COMPETITION in the event of significant and unforeseen external circumstances.
